The 2006 Gadsden Junior Golf season was kicked-off today (April 13th) with the Girls Gadsden Area High School Tournament.  The tournament was played at Twin Bridges Golf Club.  The high schools participating were Gadsden, Glencoe, Etowah and Hokes Bluff.

The Individual Champion was Mallory Batson from Etowah, with a score of 75. She had two birdies, eleven pars and five bogies.  Mallory also won the tournament in her seventh-, ninth-, and tenth grade years. Mallory has already verbally committed to play college golf for Birmingham Southern.

Runner-up was Jamie Klepsig from Glencoe, with a score of 80.  In third place was Etowah’s Ashleigh Whisenant with an 84.  Fourth was Amanda Richey from Gadsden High with a score of 93. Brittney Watkins (Glencoe) had 110, Chasity Maddox (Hokes Bluff) and Danielle Hodge (Gadsden) scored 118. 

The Team Champion was Glencoe High School with a total of 313.  The team was made up of Jamie Klepsig, Brittney Watkins, Whitney Gray and Ashleigh Smith.  Gadsden High School finished second with a total of 338. Team members were Amanda Richey, Danielle Hodge, Samantha McFarland and Becca Abel.
